Small Talk Six: Spring has arrived!

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Small Talk Six is brought to us by the ladies at the Mom Blog MomDot. Each week a new topic is posted and all you do is answer with 6 words, phrases, sentences, pictures etc!

This weeks topic is “6 things you love or hate about spring.”

Now Spring is my favorite season with fall a close second. So I’m not sure I can find anything that I hate about this wonderful time of the year. Here I go!

1. Love the flowers blooming.

2. Love that since spring is here that means warm weather and warm weather means Thunderstorms. Call me crazy but I love a good Thunderstorm. I especially love to sit on the porch swing and watch the lightning, and listen to the rain and thunder!

3. Love that Spring brings out the baby animals. Every year we have a bird nest in our carport. Last year we watched Mama bird teach her babies to fly.

4. Love that spring means more sunshine and daylight. Thanks to this David can get home while it’s still light out and spend some time outdoors with us.

5. Love gardening and doing yard work. Thanks to the spring rains and warm weather it’s that time again!

6. Hate the bugs! That’s the one thing I can think of. I hate getting bit and despise the little boogers.

What I’ve been doing.

I’ve been missing for awhile. My computer crashed and hubs was so kind to let me use his laptop for the mean time.So there won’t be a Wordless Wednesday until I can get my pictures of my old pc
.What have I been up to since I haven’t been able to log on???Well… I guess all those things that I should be doing anyway.I cleaned out my closets. You should have seen all the stuff I pulled out. I can’t even imagine how it all fit in there. Maybe I should apply for some kind of packing job or something. It has to be a world record for amount of stuff in that one space. We also cleaned out our barn this weekend. It’s been stacked with all our other stuff we don’t use and haven’t used in years. I found all sorts of treasures, including two salamanders and a huge lizard. There was also clothes I wore in high school. *gasp* It was basically a dumping ground for stuff we no longer need. So I said goodbye to it all.
We also went and bought new floor for the house. Hopefully we will get it put down this weekend. I can’t wait to see it all done…but I’m really not looking forward to all the work and moving all the furniture around.
It has been really nice here the last week or so. I can feel fall… my favorite time of the year. I have a theory on why it’s my favorite time of the year… my hubs and I started dating in fall, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. So that’s whats been going on at our place lately. What have you been up to?

I need a vacation!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

I am so tired today. I felt like I had been hit by a freight train when I woke up. Not to mention the last two nights I’ve had the worst time with the boys when it’s bedtime. I mean the WORST time… it has been a nightmare. Cry, scream, cry, scream, I need a drink, you didn’t give me a hug… Yes I did… no you DIDn’t… cry, scream, cry, scream. Maybe it will be better tonight because I’m ready to resign from putting kids to bed if it’s not. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve got more gray hairs after the last two nights. They are really good until bedtime and then they turn into little gremlins.

It’s done and I’m pooped!

I told you all earlier that we bought new floor for the house… well this weekend my SIL and I layed the tile ourselves. We’ve done this before so we knew what we were getting into and we did a great job it looks GREAT!

Man oh Man it’s a pain in the butt… literally… my entire body was hurting afterwards. I feel a little better today. Sunday I hard the hardest time getting OUT of the bed. Not that I was tired I just couldn’t sit up and get out of the bed. I can’t wait to share pictures of it. I just have to load my camera program on my new computer, (remember mine crashed last week) I decided to just lay it to rest and start fresh with a new one. Our next project is laying the wood floor in the rest of the house. This time hubs can help. We also have to repaint the living room, paint the dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. I will be so happy to have it all done, hopefully that will be before Christmas. Who knows what we haved planned for this weekend… a break from last weekend would be nice. As soon as I can I will post the pictures. Have a great week!

I can’t stop… Give me more!

This weekend I bought “Twilight”. It took me 2 days to read, that’s only because I had to sleep and eat and all those other things. I was wishing I was more like Edward and the Cullens. Now that I’m done I’m going through serious withdrawal. I actually called my husband and told him to buy me another one on his way home tonight. All I have heard lately was how great these books were so I thought I would read them. Everyone was right they are amazing. I have never read anything that made me feel this way before…. and I’ve read a lot of books. You should see my 3 huge bookshelves and stacks of boxes full of them. As I was reading I was smiling and giddy and could feel all the emotions of the characters. I cannot wait to read the next in the series. This is a love story for all times.

It’s a Wonderful day in the Neighborhood

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

*Cue Mr. Rogers Music*

Please come be my neighbor, mine are crazy and just plain bad neighbors. Well most of them are. Let me tell you what I have to put up w/ in my neighborhood.

Neighbors showing up at 11:30 at night honking their horns. They won’t get out and knock because my dog is barking like mad. Of course he is… he knows you’re not supposed to be here this late at night. What did they want you ask? Well their dogs had treed a coon on our property and they wanted to go get them.

People drive way to fast down our road… apparently they didn’t get the memo. That’s why their cars rattle and make all kinds of noise. This is not a racetrack and you are NOT Dale JR. People ride my bumper constantly when I coming home or leaving. Plus there are kids and animals on the road and you could hit one. I should know you hit my dog with your stupid car because you were driving to fast. You didn’t even stop. **We do have a fenced in yard and yes he shouldn’t be in the road. But someone left the gate open and he got out. If you weren’t driving so fast it wouldn’t have happened though**

We have a creek below our house and I guess that’s the hangout. They crank the radio up and make all kinds of racket. Can’t y’all find somewhere else to play. Or at LEAST do it during normal hours. Plus you see that fence there… You are not supposed to cross that. That’s why it’s there. DUH!

Social Networking CONS

Friday, April 16th, 2010

As the usage increased so did the potential for the misuse by the various anti social elements in the community. Since the advent of the networking sites there has been noted increase in the rate of the cyber crime across the country ranging from identity threats to frauds and even murder .One such incident happened where a boy who made friends in a popular networking site was kidnapped by the same friends and then later murdered. This is just one of the many cases that have sprouted up to the attention of the media. These cases lead us to think the ill effects of these sites. Another cause of worry about such sites are the growing porno contents in these sites as the anti social elements can make the teenage users an easy prey who aren’t wary of such things going on. After the complaints and ill deeds there has been many security measure to make these much secure than they were before where the users can choose if they want to remain with the closed group of friends or go out and make friends .Well it is not advised to talk to strangers it cannot do any harm when you know the limit where you have to stop taking him / her as a friend.

Social Networking PROS

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

As the users grew in popularity of the new type of communicating environment spread and the word of mouth spread and before you knew it everyone you knew were in orkut. It started off as a great place to find your long lost friends many of whom you last saw off in your elementary schools. It gave you a lot of power in searching with just the name and location and mostly providing accurate results. Even the chat posts which are known as scraps or wall post (in face book) was free to be viewed by anyone. It even gave way for scrap race where people competed to show that they had more scraps than his / her friend’s .As the time passed the objective turned from staying in touch to getting to know other people and creating new friends online. These online sites allowed creating communities where you could group around people with the same interest and create discussion threads on various topics .As the usage increased the sites included more and more applications and even allowed you to put up albums and even comment on the picture put up by others. The latest addition was to allow users to upload their favourite YouTube videos and share it. These were the major plus points of these networking sites.

Superstitious…

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

‘m sure most of you know what I’m talking about… in case you don’t I’ll give you a lesson.

Superstition: A belief founded on irrational feelings, esp or fear, and marked by a trust in charms, omens, the supernatural etc.

Superstitious: Disposed to believe in superstitions.

Here are a few that I follow or believe in or have heard before.

I never tell someone a dream I had before breakfast unless I want it to come true.
Never open an umbrella in the house… it will bring bad luck.
If you are holding hands with someone don’t let go if there is a pole in the way, just go around.
Heads up pennies are good luck.
Four leaf Clovers bring good luck.
If someone hands you a pocket knife return it to them the way they gave… open or closed.
If you blow out all the candles on your b-day cake at once your wish will come true.
An itchy palm means money is coming your way.
A itchy nose means someone is thinking of you.
Crossing your fingers will bring good luck.
If you shiver someone is walking over your grave… I never understood this one.
Friday the 13th is an unlucky day or the #13 is unlucky.
Breaking a mirror brings 7 years of bad luck.
